The Biographia Literaria is a critical work by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Which is contained in 24 chapter. In this critical disquistion, Coleridge concern himself not only with the practice of criticism but also with the its theory. In chapter of XIV of Biographia Literaria, Coleridge's view on nature and function of poetry is discussed in philosophical term. The difference between prose and poem is discussed by Coleridge and the difference between poetry and poem is discussed by philosopher.
1) Write in your words the difference between poem and Poetry.
Answer: Poetry is a wider term than a poem. Poem is different than prose while poetrh could be a part of prose. Poem gives pleasure . Meter or rhyme or both is used in a poem. While poetry gives an aesthetic delight . We can say that it is an activity of poet's mind. Through poem, poet express their ideas and feelings . So, it is merely a form of verbal expression of poet's mind .
2) Difference between Poem and Prose.
Answer: Both prose and poetry contains same elements there is the use of meter and rhyme in poetry while both of them are not used in prose composition.According to Coleridge Poetry is Communication of pleasure,use of meter and rhyme makes poetry effective and prose is communication of truths.
