2. Post-Colonialism:
In the movie "Lagaan-once upon a time in India" Bhuvan accepts challenge by Russel just to cancel the double texation and learns to play cricket and also teaches cricket to other villagers and intention behind learning the game of cricket was only for winning the challenge and to get freedom from from double taxation; though Britishers have left India and we are celebrating 71st Independence Day there is impact of Britishers over many fields and on people's mind also,
e.g.,
Most of Indians are the fan of game cricket or most of them likes to play or watch this game but in comparison of cricket there are few people who knows about Indian games or likes to play or watch Indian games like hockey and Kabbadi.
3. Religion :
There is coexistence of many religions in India and we may say that in our India there is unity in diversity. Most of us are believing in God and in the movie "Lagaan-once upon a time in India" Director has described it very well that every person is a strong believer of God and they all are praying for better tomorrow. So,religion is also important matter in India in that time and today also.
4. Theory of Subaltern or Caste Conflict :
There are many characters in the movie "Lagaan-once upon a time in India" who are belongs to subaltern group or lower caste like Kachara and Bhura.
Here we can see that the name of character Kachara suggests himself as unwanted or as waste; but reality is that he is a character with hidden power.
There is also one more character Bhura Who sacrifices his chance to play cricket for his Master(Upper Class) and this incident reminds us the myth of Eklavya.
Conclusion :
Thus we can say that the movie "Lagaan-once upon a time in India" reflects above mentioned matters like Patriotism,Post-Colonialism, Religion and Caste Conflict.
