How Literature Shaped Me?

L...I...T...E...R..A...T...U...R...E... is not just a word; it’s an Emotion for all those who studies it and interested in it. There is significance of literature in one’s whole life.

Lullaby sung by mother for her child is a kind of literature; there is wedding songs and funeral hymns too. It doesn’t matter whether it is written or not because it can be considered as folk literature.

For me very base of my interest in literature is my reading habit- gift from my Grandfather. For me there should be something to read; it doesn’t matter about

What it is?

 I like to find myself surrounded by words; whether it is of Fantasy, Fact or of Emotion. Reading habit has cultivated my thinking capacity. The more I read the more I became mature. Yes, there was a time when I was very sticky to my thoughts; because that was the time when I only knew to read not to apply it in day to day life; I knew about Idealism but my perception was that Ideolism is all about to be good to others and others too will be good with you. But 5 years journey of Literature has made me believe that Idealism is not about being good and expecting good but it is about to accept everything whether it is good or bad and change it accordingly.

Earlier I used to believe that if one truly desires something then there is power of nature which makes him able to get it but the short story “Post Master” by Rabindranath Tagore which I have studied in First Year has changed my perception that in life not all the time you get whatever you want; and I started believing that:

Meeting Increases Attachment;

Attachment with Particular One-

Becomes the Cause for Longing,

 and ....

This Is The Point Where Mainly Separation Exists..

After Studying and Enjoying Literature I came to knew that life is not about to decide “what is right?’ and “what is wrong?” but it is about questioning “Why  is it so?”; further it is about “What it should be?”

Literature is something which brings change and now I believe that to change something firstly one has to accept it as what it is, then and then only one could be able to change it.

Earlier I believed that Literature is the medium of Entertainment. Yes, it is  the medium of Entertainment but it is life enhancing too. We can say that literature makes us able to accept everything – Best of the Best to the Worst and Challenge it accordingly.

By studying-feeling Literature I started writing and by the time I came to know that why Wordsworth had said that;

“Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings;

Recollected  in tranquility.”

And:

 “Fill the paper with the

 breathings of your heart!!”

Yes, it’s the emotions which leads one to write. According to me :

Art Only Comes From HeArt;

Not From Mind..

and creative writing is not everyone’s cup of tea; great literature are never came from comfort zones:

 Ambitions  & Happiness is not Comfort and Easiness!

Nowadays cultural studies has became part of Literature and as we know culture is not something which is directly visible; to see and understand culture one has to observe rituals, history &philosophy of particular group or society. And Literature has made me think about my culture, its rituals as well as of other cultures too.

For me Literature is My Wings to Fly high and Yet it is My vision too to see from sky to what is there at the bottom!!
