The Film Screening committe of Dept.of English has organised Screening of movie 'Article 15' sponsered by Tanishq Bhavnagar.

The movie #Article_15 is directed by Anubhav Sinha. This movie is based on two real life events; which are:

  •Badayun(U.P) Gangrape case.
  •Una(Gujarat) Incident.

*What is the Article 15?

Article 15 prohibits the descrimination based on Religion,Caste,Race,Place of Birth or any of them.

 *The movie “Article 15”

The movie describes that how caste&gender based discrimination still exists in 21st century.

*Tagline of the Movie:

" Farq bahut kar liya;
  Aab Farq laayenge.."

The director Anubhav Sinha stated that:

“This film is an investigation Drama where the audience too is an accused party.”

 *Characters:

All the actors in this movie has equally tried to give their best performence. From protagonist character “Ayaan Ranjhan”(Aayushmaan Khurrana) to the character of “Amli”,all the character seems very realistic.

The characters  “Gaura”(Sayani Gupta),“Dr.Malti Ram”(Ranjani Chakrobarty), Aditi(Isha Talwar) and “Nishad”(Mohammad Zeeshan Ahmad) appeals the most.

*Dialogues:

"Mein aur tum inhe dikhai hi nahi dete, hum kabhi Harijan ho jate hai, kabhi Bahujan ho jate hai, bus jan nahi ban pa rahe..Ke Jan gan mein hamari bhi ginti ho jaye...Insaaf ki bhikh mat mango bahut mang chuke.."

"Power ki alag hi jat hoti ha..i" by Nishad is all about the conflicts of Dalits..

Upper caste people's rudeness with Dalits..

"Aukat Jitna hum dete hai utni unki aukat hoti hai.."

The protagonists Ayaan Ranjan who

has compeleted his higher studies in Europe is charged as IPS Officer in Lalganv,M.P. Here he comes to know that after the 7 decades of the Independence, people are still believing in casteism and blindely follows cast based discriminations.

Ayaan Ranjan handles the case of three Dalit girls Sanu,Mamta and Pooja who are working in factory owned by Anshu Naharia are missing.

The two of them are found hanging on tree but the one Pooja is still missing, Brahmdutt and other police officers tried toi convince Ayaan that it’s the case of owner killing for same sex relation, though it was not that..
Meanwhile the three people of Schedualed Caste were badly hited for eating food in temple though they didn’t only to show them their status-“AUKAT”.

Minister Ramlal Naharia forces Ayaan to close the case but Ayaan Investigates further, then Ramlal uses his connections and sends CBI officer Panikar to handle the case.

  • There is the depiction in Movie that how the caste based descrimination is still there in universities or Education Fields and between the Police officers too.

Ayaan unfolds the mystery with the help of Dr.Malti Rama that the case of the girls is the case of Gangrape and finds the missing girl Pooja.

At the end of the movie where every mystery get resolved there are the scenes which shows the election time situations, There are the references of "Gathbandhan"& symbols of various political parties like Panja,Ful,Hathi,Sycle are also there.

End of the movie satirizes upon  political parties and their various strategies about votebank..

Film ends with the dialogue:

       "Kaun Jat ho tum?"

Usually people used to question about caste but they don't think that it's illigal to ask or to insult anyone on the basis of caste...

The last dialogue makes us thinking about our surrounding, society in which we are living, where casteism became normal...

L .. .I...T...E...R..A.. . T . ..U . ..R . ..E . .. is not just a word; it’s an Emotion for all those who studies it and interested in it. There is significance of literature in one’s whole life. Lullaby sung by mother for her child is a kind of literature; there is wedding songs and funeral hymns too. It doesn’t matter whether it is written or not because it can be considered as folk literature. For me very base of my interest in literature is my reading habit - gift from my Grandfather. For me there should be something to read; it doesn’t matter about What it is?  I like to find myself surrounded by words; whether it is of Fantasy, Fact or of Emotion. Reading habit has cultivated my thinking capacity. The more I read the more I became mature. Yes, there was a time when I was very sticky to my thoughts; because that was the time when I only knew to read not to apply it in day to day life; I knew about Idealism but my...
